Good product overall great range, only complaint is the keys are cheap and eat batteries quickly, my original 2 remotes have broken, had it about 3 years, I've learned to keep the remote in my coat, that way 1 it donsnt get damaged, and 2 I dont keep hitting the buttons which I think helps drain the batteries. They work great just cheap remotes and at $129 for a replacement treat them carefully

very good alarm. like the two way feature and long distance from the remote. Defrost feature didn't work without additional relay. I have the safest car in my complex. I wouldn't try any other alarm except maybe an upgraded viper. remote battery last about 2 months. Get a remote case if u get this alarm cause battery case on remote breaks easy.

I have always loved viper alarm remote start systems as this is my third vehicle with one. This new 5701 series is wonderful. I enjoy the fact the responder is two way even though there are still one way devices I like knowing that my vehicle received the commands or didn't for that matter. I don't have the smart start capabilities yet, but am looking into adding it to the vehicle. The only real complaints I have, are that the buttons push to easy while my keys are in my pocket and that for whatever reason when my vehicle is cold it will start for about 30 seconds then turn back off for no reason, but I'm having that looked at this weekend, could just be a glitch. Other then that I love the new features and how well it works, for the most part. Side note I have a 10 second delay because my vehicle is diesel, just enough time for the glow plugs to cycle.

I love this product, its very easy to use, but it goes off in your pocket or bag all the time, and also does anyone else's start doing a jingle? recently it goes off in like a song type of beeping and all the lights start flashing all crazy, it seems like its supposed to be doing it but then again, it doesnt make sense. Is it supposed to sing me?

This is my second Viper system i have had, the older one was put in by delership here in Iceland in 1996 model of M.Benz E230 and worked very well. I now have Viper 5701 Responder LE 2-Way Security and Remote Start System in my 2006 Ford Mondeo manufactered in Belgium, there was problem with some sensor in the engine room, but that was not problem by the Viper system. The Europe Ford was the problem. Had this system only for 2 days installed and is a very good system, and the remote is very good designed.
I have had Viper system put in 16 cars over the last 12 years and worked very good, this is the only product that i can trust.
By using remote start i save car battery during long and cold winters with out using heated seat in short distens driving.
I regret buying this product, it is easy to get off, several times I have found my car with the engine running without even touch the viper. The viper was holding in my key holder
The keys command are so small that making the wrong touch stuck the viper, you need to open your car with your car key and at night you cannot see what command are you pressing. it is horrible
This product needs better design, should not be in sale
The worst system I have ever had its making me problems from day 1 I wouldn’t recommend this to anyone

I've been a huge fan of viper and I've always had one on every vehicle I have owned (6 vehicles). I had the viper 5701 with remote start installed in my 2007 dodge ram mega cab truck installed and the features seems the same as the past vipers but my biggest complaint is the remote. The auto start feature one button is horrible, I could have the remote in my pocket and somehow I accidentally start the vehicle. I liked the safety feature in the pass with the 2 button autostart feature, also the batteries on these remotes don't last as long as they say. I've had to replaced my responsders battery almost every 6 weeks. I wished you could lock the keys, I heard you can but it does not state it in the manuel. I think accidentally pushing the buttons drains the battery life quicker. Is there a way of resolving this problem??? Can you guys program an old style remote for my alarm? If they keep this stupid remote design and not improve of it I will never purchase their alarm again.

This system seems to work to good. When I carry the remote in my pocket,it starts the car with just normal movement. The buttons are very sensitive. Viper needs a hard cover for the remote,or a two button start. Other than that it works well.

It's now been a week since having a Viper 5701 installed on my Tahoe.
This alarm-remote start is of course a bit more complex than the alarms of yesteryear, and takes some getting used to using the remote, but basically is a nice product. Has many features. I'm hoping that the Batteries in the remote last long than some have claimed.
But I have run into what I consider a serious flaw with the system, and have alreasy spoken yesterday with a Tech at Directed.
Since I only now use my Tahoe on occasion, I would commonly place the vehicle on float-maintainence charge with a Deltran Battery Tender Plus Battery Charger. The Charger is now not compatible, does not properly work on the vehicle, that the Alarm would repeatedly go off, reset, and the charger then became red hot.
I've been already told by the Tech at Directed, that there is nothing that can be done, that this is an inherit feature, or for a better word "problem", that he claims cannot be rectified-corrected with the Viper System.
I myself almost cannot believe such, that with an older alarm (clifford) that I had on this vehicle, I never before had such problems with Battery Charging.
I have spoken with the authorized Viper Installler here in town, and they want me to try this Charger again, let the Alarm go off, then read the codes-flashes off the LED, so they can perhaps make some form of determination as to what's happening.
So, if there is no solution, and this is an inherit flaw with the Viper 5701 System, that means the only way one can charge the Battery, is by disconnecting it. Again, the Tech at Directed told me, that disconnecting the Battery can make the Viper System lock up, even if the Battery is only disconnected for just a few hours.
Something just doesn't sound right here? The installers said the tech is apparently wrong about such lock ups to the system with a Battery Disconnect.
Hopefully, I'll be able to resolve these glitches with this system.
Just doesn't sound feasible to me, that one cannot charge a Battery due to this Alarm being installed. Mark

Ive had this system for almost 5 months now and really the only comlaint that I have about it is the remotes.
They back (battery cover) breaks and causes problems with the battery connection. It seems that the problem is resoved if you remove the battery and put it back in.
Other than that it seems to be a great system no other issues.

I love this product. This is my first car starter and I just love it. I had the Viper 5701 installed at Best Buy, just took 5 hours, installed by Juan and he did a great job. It works like a charm. I take the Metra train to work so just as I am approaching my station, about 3 blocks, I hit the starter 3rd down and it starts the car. One other thing I love is that it starts the car but stays locked until I unlock it. I love that feature. I don't have to worry about someone driving off in my car. Also, my garage isn't attached to the house, it;s throught the yard. I open my garage from the back porch and start the car. When I get into the garage the car is warmed up. I highly recommend this starter. I wanted to get it last year but I waited too long and the wait time to install was weeks away.

Absolutely love this product! Installed it myself in '09 Mazdaspeed 3. I love being able to hit the remote start button and get out of the car and go into a store with it running and still armed and keep my car warm or cool. Remote range is very nice compared to older systems I've used... Only problem I have is the shock sensor randomly going off within a few minutes of locking the doors. I've even turned the sensitivity down from default and I can kick the crap outta the tire and it not go off, yet it still goes off randomly 1-5 minutes after locking/arming! I'll figure it out eventually...

I really like this product, but wish it was less expensive. The buttons are touchy, but I had my installer put the 20 second lock function on it. Still trying to figure out if I can instantly lock it. The reception is pretty good with a clear shot of the vehicle, but office buildings are a problem. Regardless, I won't be freezing as much this coming winter and that's a great thing!!!

Awesome remote start and everything. Only one kick that I can see is I have had it for almost a year and the batteries last me about three months. Of course, I use the remote start everyday 3 or 4 times a day. So, I know 3 months is good under those circumstances.
This is a great system, easy to use if you read the manual and everything works great. I am having a hard time setting the shock sensor but that is user error not the system. I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants good security, keyless entry, and remote start.

I bought this alarm for my wife's van last ocober and it was rating us good especially through the long Chicago winters, but after about 4 months or so my 2-way remote started acting up. I took it back to Best Buy and had the problem solved. Up until April everything was back to normal so I just took the van in for a second time and had both remotes replaced and my wife and I are extremely satisfied with this viper. If I were to do it all over again, I would still purchase this unit. Strongly recommend it.

After reading the rewiews form other people who have bought this product I was convinced to purchase the 5701. After getting the alarm installed in my wifes minivan, I did a few tests to see if the alarm was working the way it was designed. Viper didn't let me down. This alarm works great...

I'm pretty happy overall with my model 5701 but I have had some problems lately with it working properly. I've since found that the batteries in the remote are almost dead and wasn't too happy that the low battery indicator didn't warn me of that condition. Other than that it has been working just fine. I really like the remote start in the winter.

I got the viper 2-way control for christmas 08. I love the remote. Mainly use the 1-way, it doesnt do alot of the things the 2-way does but the remote locks so I dont press buttons when its in my pocket and its wonderful for cold mornings. Only took an hour to install. have had it for 4 months now and havent had to change batteries yet. Would recommend to all my friends.

This product is awesome! I've always heard about Viper's reputation but never purchased one. My last car had a Code Alarm (cannot compare to the Viper 5701) but the features were to difficult to remember. I am SO HAPPY with this alarm. The 2-way is great when you do not have a visual of your car, the remote confirms if the car has been started. The range is great, signal goes through walls. I read a review before I bought it about people having problems with the remote buttons being pressed while in a purse or pocket, but the remote can be locked. I couldn't find how to do it in the manual but I called Viper customer service on it and they gave me the code for it. For keypad lock press F for 12 seconds. then when the LED light on top turns red press the unlock button for 1.5 seconds. After that press the lock button and the keypad will light up for a few seconds, leave it alone, when all the lights turn off the keypad is locked. Sounds like a lot but it's really simple. It's a great feature if you just throw your keys in your purse or pocket. To unlock press F then the unlock. I love this product it's great! Better than the rest!! A little pricey but worth every penny! Would recommend to anyone!
So far so good, went to Best Buy, got it for $400 and it included installation. Everything works fine so far, remote start, alarm, etc. No complaints............yet
very nice alarmed is perfect for my jeep grand cherokee laredo. Easy to mess around with the only thing is that the battery has to be replaced every 2 months.

i like the system. i like how it has an automatic shut off on the remote start. only thing i wish it could have had was some sort of neutral safety switch for manual models so that you didnt have to set up the remote start when you get out.
overall awesome though!
